BMW currently makes some of the best handling SUVs in the market. We just made this X5 even better. SUVs are designed to go off road and this fact limits what the engineers can do when it comes to suspension design and function. BMW engineers go to great lengths to ensure that their SUVs are capable to go off road, have the ride quality of a luxury car and to be above all things, a BMW. Inevitably compromises need to be made to accommodate all of these needs. The owner of this X5 realistically understands that this BMW SUV will seldom leave the pavement and wanted to infuse the X5 with more of that BMW handling magic. For this we turned to German manufacturer H&R. We've been using H&R products for years now. We trust their racing bred technology and quality. On this X5 we installed a set of H&R Sport Springs. These springs were designed to be used with the BMW dampers and lower the ride height approximately 2" in the front and 1.2" in the rear axle. We also widened the front and rear track with H&R TRAK+ Wheel Spacers. We installed 15mm wheel spacers in the front and 30mm wheel spacers in the rear. The lowered ride height and wider track of this X5 has improved the handling considerably. This X5 stay more securely planted when cornering, accelerating and braking. Not only is this a performance enhancement, it also makes this X5 safer by lowering its center of gravity. The X5 is now more stable putting more control into the driver's hands. We also think it looks better with its new lower stance. The owner of this X5 agrees.
