Velocity Factor – Track Day Essentials

Velocity Factor – Track Day Essentials

Where the rubber meets the road (literally).

Out of all of the components you can upgrade on your car, the tire is the only part of your car that will make contact with the track. Tires can be easily overlooked when upgrading your vehicle to use on the track. When a car manufacturer select the tires to use on their vehicles, many compromises need to be made. From weather conditions to tire longevity and cost. Most performance vehicle come equipped with competitive tires from the factory but there’s always a compromise to be made to be able to sell the same vehicle in multiple markets. Tires as a stand alone upgrade can yield significant improvements in your vehicle’s performance. You will be able to put the power down with minimal loss in traction and you will be able to exploit your brakes to its full potential. Your vehicle’s suspension will react accordingly as well. Tires is a subject vast enough for it to become an endless debate on what to look for. This is why you consult an expert on the matter. At Velocity Factor, we practice what we preach. Some of our associates and clients actively engage in Track Day events as well as Autocross and Drag Racing. When we recommend a brand or type of tire, it’s because we’ve already done the research for you in real life conditions.

Velocity Factor is an authorized dealer for many of the top tire manufactures. We also install and rotate them at your convenience in our shop in Coral Springs.

Essential Track Day Upgrades:

  • If you plan to use your daily driven vehicle on the race track, we highly recommend purchasing a second set of wheels and tires. We carry a vast selection of light weight wheels that will further improve your vehicle’s performance as welll as its looks. From RAYS Engineering to OZ Racing chances are we carry what you need. Every pound you shave off your car is directly reflected on your car’s performance. Your car on (usually) heavy factory stock wheels with all season tires at the race track is the same as you on a treadmill wearing construction boots. As with you, your car’s footwear should match the occasion.
  • If you rather use your factory wheels, we recommend tires from Michelin and Bridgestone (amongst other brands) that will make a good compromise of performance at the track with every day use on the road. We professionally match tires with your vehicle.

At Velocity Factor, we take reliable automotive performance very seriously.  If you are interested in improving your car’s appearance or performance, please give us a call.  We are always happy to provide free advice and support over the phone.
