Dodge Charger & Challenger platform build guide · LX · LD · LA · 5.7 · 6.4 · Hellcat · 2006–2023

The Charger and Challenger build guide. Staged the right way.

Two body styles, three engines and one chassis family that responds to the same recipe: let the Hemi breathe, stop the weight, and plant the rear end. Whether it is a 5.7 R/T that needs its voice back, a 6.4 Scat Pack you want to sharpen, or a Hellcat that needs to stop and turn on lap eight, this is our opinionated stage 1, 2 and 3 parts list: real parts we stock, chosen to work together, installed and aligned in-house in Coral Springs.

Stage 1 · Charger & Challenger stage 1 parts list

The daily-plus foundation.

Stage 1 on a Hemi car is about waking it up without touching the calibration: a cold-air intake that lets you hear the 5.7 or 6.4 pull air, a cat-back that gives the car the voice Dodge muffled at the factory, and lowering springs that fix the fender gap on a chassis that sits too tall from the showroom. Intakes and exhausts are engine-specific here, so every pick below says which Hemi it fits. Everything carries forward to stage 2 instead of getting replaced by it.

Stage 2 · Hemi stage 2 parts list

Headers, flow and a tune, in the right order.

A pushrod Hemi makes its stage 2 power in the exhaust. Our list is Kooks 1-7/8in long-tube headers for the 5.7 and for the 6.4 and 6.2, the catted connection pipes that finish the job, a 90mm throttle body, a Mishimoto radiator for the 5.7 cars that run hot in South Florida traffic, and rear cradle inserts that stop the wheel hop a stock car ships with. Long-tubes and a throttle body need a PCM calibration; that isn’t an add-to-cart item, we handle it with the install. Hellcat owners: smaller supercharger pulleys are in our catalog and they need a tune too. Supercharger kits for the naturally aspirated cars aren’t in our online catalog; we source and install them, so tell us the car and we’ll quote the complete package.

Stage 3 · track & strip parts list

Track and strip prep: control before power.

A Charger or Challenger is quick in a straight line out of the box. What decides your track day or test-and-tune night is whether two tons stops and turns on lap eight the way it did on lap one, and whether the transmission is still shifting clean on the fifth pass. Our stage 3 list is coilovers with real damping for the LD and LA cars, an adjustable front bar that dials out the push, a six-piston Wilwood front kit, Power Stop track pads and rotors, and transmission cooling for the eight-speed cars. Big-brake kits for the 2006-2010 LX cars exist in our catalog too, rear only; ask and we’ll pair them. Built-motor and big-power work beyond this is a custom conversation with the shop.

Show & stance

Fitment that photographs as well as it drives.

Every modern Charger and Challenger runs 5x115 with a 71.5mm bore, and the arches take 20in wheels in the wide, staggered sizes the car wears best, wider still on a widebody. We spec wheels, tires, drop and alignment as one package, mounted on scratch-free equipment and Road Force balanced in-house, with the offset done right so the rear fills the fender without rubbing under launch or over a Florida driveway lip.

  • Wheel and tire packages spec’d for 5x115 Charger and Challenger fitments
  • Springs or coilovers matched to the wheel setup
  • Hunter Road Force balancing and expert alignment
  • Hub-centric spacers and TPMS sensors in stock, cloned to your car

Installed in-house

Parts are half the build. Installation is the other half.

Everything on this page can be installed, fabricated around and aligned in our own shop. Long-tube headers go in with new gaskets, extended O2 harnesses and the mid-pipes fitted so nothing rattles against the floor, throttle bodies and intakes get the sensors seated and the idle relearned, coilovers are set to corner-weighted ride height, and every suspension change ends on our Hunter alignment system so the car drives the way the parts list promised instead of eating its rear tires.

  • Lift work, header, exhaust and intake installs done in-house
  • Custom fabrication when off-the-shelf doesn’t fit the build
  • Hunter alignment with corner weighting for lowered and coilover cars
  • Road-checked before the car goes back to you

Sourcing the parts the catalog doesn’t show

Supercharger kits for naturally aspirated 5.7 and 6.4 cars, one-piece driveshafts for the 2011+ chassis, and the PCM calibration every header or pulley install needs are things we source and install for Charger and Challenger customers directly rather than list online. If your plan needs them, send the car details below and we’ll quote the complete package with installation.

Charger & Challenger questions

Before you order parts.

Do I need a tune for stage 1?

No. Our stage 1 list is intake, cat-back exhaust and springs — all of it works on the stock calibration, and none of it gets thrown away when you move to stage 2 later. The moment long-tube headers or a throttle body go on, the car needs a PCM calibration, and that is where stage 2 starts.

Do 5.7, 6.4 and Hellcat parts interchange?

Rarely. Intakes, headers, throttle bodies and cat-backs are built for one engine, and the Charger and Challenger often use different exhaust routing even with the same Hemi. Suspension and brake hardware is shared far more: the LD Charger and LA Challenger share most springs, bars, coilovers and brake fitments. Our lists call out the engine and body each part fits; send us your exact car and we’ll confirm before anything is ordered.

What’s actually in a Hemi stage 2 parts list?

Long-tube headers with catted connection pipes, a larger throttle body, and the calibration that makes them work together, plus the supporting pieces a heavier, faster car needs: cooling for the 5.7 and cradle bushings so the rear end stops hopping on launch. Hellcat cars add a smaller supercharger pulley in place of headers as the first move. We install and calibrate all of it as one package.

What about superchargers and big-power builds?

We install them, but supercharger kits for the naturally aspirated 5.7 and 6.4 aren’t listed in our online catalog. They are shop-quoted parts, and the right answer depends on fuel, the transmission, cooling and how you actually use the car. Our stage 3 list focuses on what every fast Charger or Challenger needs regardless: suspension, brakes and transmission temperature.

Can you install and align everything here?

Yes. Every part on this page can be installed in our Coral Springs shop, and suspension work is finished on our Hunter alignment system with corner weighting when the car calls for it. We serve enthusiasts across South Florida, from Boca Raton and Parkland to Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Charger & Challenger parts

Which Charger or Challenger are you building?

Our catalog lists Charger and Challenger fitment by model year, so R/T, Scat Pack, SRT 392 and Hellcat parts appear together for your generation — check each product’s fitment notes for the engine it covers, because 5.7, 6.4 and 6.2 parts are rarely interchangeable. Set your exact year in the catalog to narrow further.
